The Chennai Photo walk turns 4!

It has been 4 brilliant photographic years for the clickers.Team Photo walk is stepping into a milestone in November 2011 with the successful completion of 43 walks in 4 years, satisfying the hunger of all the photographers with their professional clicks. Chandrachoodan Gopalakrishnan - the brain child behind this team. In an exclusive interview with us, he has shared some information about the conception of such an idea. A friend of Chandrachoodan was visiting from Delhi and wanted to know more about the tourist spots in Chennai. They met and started walking together, clicking on their way. Chandrachoodan had blogged about this and this ultimately led to the commencement of The Chennai – photowalk. Chandrachoodan also says that “It did not matter how it was started but how far the idea had been proving successful to this day”.

When asked about the challenges faced in organizing the photo walks, Chandrachoodan said “Challenge was really all about having a coffee at the end of each walk. See, I don't think the Photowalk was all that much of a dramatic new thing in the Madras landscape. Just a lot more connected - with twitter, face book and such, helping spread the word quicker. What was dramatic, or at least heroic if you can apply the word here, is that we've managed to push the idea over such a long period. One issue is that of police and other authorities who assume there is a blanket ban on photography in the city. There isn’t. So a little more co-operation from the police will help us make Madras a better photographed, cooler city. It is. But then, if everything went well, we wouldn't have this much fun would we now?”

As part of the 4th anniversary of Chennai photowalk, every Sunday of November 2011 has been scheduled a photo walk across the city.

Walk #1: Sunday 6th November 2011, at 5:30 AM. From Southern Railway Headquarters (PH Road) to Madras High Court.

Walk #2: Sunday 13th November 2011, at 4:30 PM (afternoon walk) Nungambakkam High Road and environs

Walk #3: Sunday 20th November 2011, at 6:30 AM. On First Line Beach, from Dare House to Clive Battery

Walk #4: Sunday 27th November 2011, at 8:30 AM. Along the Beach Tambaram Railway line, from Chetpet to Kodambakkam.
